San Antonio, Texas

Well second eclipse attempt, and second eclipse failure. This time in San Antonio, Texas. I flew in and spent the afternoon at The Historic Pearl Brewery area. As it was Sunday, it had a great festival atmosphere with vendors and restaurants and stuff. A fun place to hang out!

The next day I drove out to Joshua Springs Park near Comfort, TX. It was a good park with some casual trails. But it just got cloudier as the day went on, and I ended up with more clouds than I did for the last eclipse. Sigh.

On my final day, I visited the Witte Museum and then just wandered around San Antonio. The heat was brutal, but much more pleasant in the below-grade Riverwalk area. But with the river-boats going by and the general tourist-vibe, it felt like I was at Disney. I mean it was fun to visit, but I can't imagine ever going there as a local.

Not a bad little get-away, but overall a bust. I guess my next chance is "The Eclipse of The Century" in Egypt. Assuming WW3 hasn't started in the Middle East by then.

Historic Pearl Brewery area. Very cool place to hang out. Southerleigh at Pearl Of course wearing my 2017 Eclipse shirt Yeah conditions were not looking good Alamo Cafe: They were just cranking out baskets of hot and delicious tortillas! Well might as well check out the natural history museum The Alamo... there was no way I was waiting in line to see it Riverwalk area. Very neat, but felt very artificial as well. Like being at Disney In addition to the regular tourist T-shirts, there were Jesus shirts too... oh Texas Visited the local aquarium like I always do. Not great, but surprisingly okay for being in the LegoLand inside a mall!
